Memphis entertainment at its finest, the Memphis band Deep Shag has become one of the most popular bands in the Southeast, performing literally hundreds of shows annually for the last two years. A semi-finalist in the 2003 Grammy Showcase, they were recently picked (out of 1200 entrants) for Disc Makers’ Independent Music World Series Heavy Hitters compilation. With their new all-original CD Rug Burn, they are rapidly expanding their fan base, resulting in bookings and radio play from Key West to Boston. The band has opened for and/or performend with numerous national aritsts, including Everclear, Maroon 5, Parliament Funkadelic and Frankie Goes To Hollywood, among others. Deep Shag’s sound combines elements of several musical genres, including 70’s rock, contemporary pop, and classic R&B in order to create a sound that eludes standard classification.
